Visas Kazakhstan

You will NEED a visa for Kazakhstan unless you are a citizen of: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Ukraine or Uzbekistan.

Remember to give yourself enough time to plan your visa and to make your travel arrangements – it can take several weeks depending upon your nationality.

Before you can apply for a Kazakh visa you need to obtain a Visa Support Letter (also called an invitation).

Businessmen and tourists from the 35 countries listed below do not need a Visa Support Letter before applying for their visas for stays of less than one month – you have to have been born in one of these countries and you have to hold a passport from one of these countries to qualify.

The only documentation these 35 nationalities require is:

1. Your original passport (with at least one blank visa-designated page; passport must be valid for at least 6 months after your intended departure date from Kazakhstan)
2. One recent passport-type photograph.
3. An introductory letter containing a brief summary of the purpose of your visit.
4. Payment of the relevant Consulate fees.
5. Completed application form

Please be aware that it can take up to 30 working days to obtain this visa support depending upon your nationality.

Only once you have this document can you apply for a visa.

In all cases visas are issued only for the dates shown on your invitation.

How do I get my Visa Support Letter (Invitation)

There are two main visa types:

BUSINESS VISA

If you expect to undertake business whilst there we recommend that you travel on a Business visa. An invitation from your Kazakh partners is required; however, if your partners are unable to provide this we can obtain it for you (please refer to the relevant Visa Support Order form for charges and processing times). Business visas are available for periods of 1, 3, 6 or 12 months; single, double or multiple entries.

TOURIST VISA

If you are simply visiting as a tourist, attending an exhibition, sporting event etc and not conducting business you can travel on a tourist visa. We can obtain this for you (please refer to the relevant Visa Support Order form for charges and processing times). Tourist visas are available for a maximum period of one month and come as single or double entry.

If you would like us to obtain the visa support for your visit please send us:

1. Completed order form (Online Visa Support Application Form)
2. A clear colour-scanned copy of your passport (which you can upload on the visa support application).

Once we have these two items we will process your application upon receipt of the applicable fees unless you have an account with us. When your invitation is ready a copy will be emailed to you.

For stays of more than 72 hours all non-CIS nationals must register with OVIR (Office of Visas and Registration) - the agency that administers foreigners in Kazakhstan.

As proof that this has been done your passport will be stamped.

WHO CAN REGISTER YOU?

The inviting company, organization or individual that issued your visa support document can register you. If these organizations or individuals cannot register you, or you didn't need a visa support document to obtain your visa, you can still register through an official body including a travel agent or some hotels. A fee is likely to be charged for this.
