Visas Azerbaijan

Most nationalities require a visa for Azerbaijan.

To apply for an Azerbaijani visa the Consulate needs the following documents:

● Visa Support Letter (also called an invitation)

Letters of Invitation are processed through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan - private individuals as well as legal entities (inclusive of hotels) acting as a host should apply on your behalf in Baku through the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan.

The address of the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan is 4 Shikhali Gurbanov Street, Baku, AZ 1009, Republic of Azerbaijan. The Consular Department accepts applications from 10a.m. until 1p.m. and from 2.30p.m. until 4p.m. As of April 2009 the Consular fee for the visa confirmation letter is 1 Manat and 10 qapiks (roughly equal to GBP1).

Once we have the VSL what do we do with it?

The VSL will be emailed to you; this should then be used to support your visa application along with the remaining documents:

● Application form, fully completed and signed by the applicant
● Original passport (valid passport with one full blank page to affix the visa and must be valid for at least three months after the expiry date of the Azerbaijani visa applied for)
● One Passport-type photograph (taken within the last month 45 mm high x 35 mm wide)

Registering your presence in the country

Foreign nationals intending to stay in Azerbaijan for a period exceeding 30 days have to register with the nearest police station within three days of their arrival. A small registration fee is payable (around US $10) and the following documents should be submitted:

- Valid passport of a foreign national
- Valid visa
- Proof of address or a tenancy agreement, or a letter from the landlord

After the registration you will be issued with a registration note allowing you to stay in the country.

Foreign nationals that stay in other districts of Azerbaijan (i.e. other than Baku) should obtain their registration card from the Passport Registration Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan in person prior to their departure from the capital.
